Happy New Year guys!!! I’m super excited about this year. I know you can already tell why I’m so giddy with happiness. Yes, Endi’s World is one!!! Can I get an Amen?!!
It’s funny how things fall into place when you least expect it. I started this blog during one of the lowest moments of my life. My first post “Here it begins” went live on 4th January 2017, and I was filled with so much doubts and anxiety.
Now here we are, 79 posts and over 20, 000 page views later. I just wish you could all see me with a big smile on my face. The feeling is so surreal. And the most mind boggling thing is that I didn’t give up, which is very uncharacteristic of me.
I’d like to say a big thank you to so many people that kept faith with me. Even on the days when I didn’t feel like writing, you reminded me of the reason why I started. Keji, my very own hype-woman, you planted the seed and I listened.
To the Smallstarter Man, John-Paul Iwuoha, thank you for allowing me pick your brains. When plugins, themes and SEO sounded like jargon to me, you took time out to explain them all.
I also want to say a big thank you to all the people who let me interview them for the blog starting with Tosyn Bucknor (the very first blog interview) to Aderoju Ope-Ajayi (the last for 2017). Thank you all so much.
The beautiful thing about blogging is that it’s one big family. I was able to e-meet a lot of bloggers and they became close friends albeit online. Starting with KacheeTee, ZinnyFactor, Omasserendipity (my online best friend), Jamila Kyari, and SavingwithOj. I hope to meet many more bloggers this year, and also attend some blog related events in Nigeria.
And no I didn’t forget, Le Hubs has always been there, both behind and in front of the scenes. My biggest cheerleader!!
Last year, I did a lot of features for websites such as BellaNaija, SheLeadsAfrica, and Onobello.com. The posts are:
However, when my workload became too much, and I couldn’t even post on the blog regularly, these features fizzled out. The plan is to restart and have many more feature posts this year.
Inasmuch as I’ve featured on other blogs, I have not had any guest post on the blog. I intend to remedy that. The first guest post will be published next week, and it is by my dear friend, Bolanle Lawal.
If you have any original content you want to share, please send me an email so that you can be featured on the blog. I want to have as many guest posts on the blog as possible.
When I first figured out the page views and the whole Google analytics ish, I was very obsessed with the numbers. This affected my psyche.
I was deceived by all the “how I got 100 million page views in a month” blah blah blah articles. Please, if you are just starting your blog, ignore these articles. Just take everything in your stride, and refuse to put yourself under unnecessary pressure.
Of course, I’m by no means saying that you shouldn’t look at the numbers to even ascertain if people are reading your blog. But when you now make it the end-all and be-all (I think I got that right), you begin to realize that blogging is no longer fun for you.
If this was a course in school, I’m sure I would have failed woefully. I never have posts scheduled, that is why some weeks, I rarely publish anything. Not that I don’t have anything to write (though this is true on some occasion), my work (I’m a lawyer) makes it difficult for me to sit down and write.
So this year, we are going to kick procrastination on its butt, and get to scheduling. Hopefully, there will be few (if possible none) breaks in transmission.
This is another course I’ve failed. To be fair though, ever since I installed the Sumo plugin, my mailing list has been growing. Once I get the hang of it, newsletters will be going out to my faithful subscribers.
I solemnly promise not to clog your inbox with emails.
If you are not subscribed to my blog, what are you waiting for? Join the moving train *so corny*
I may do my very first giveaway as soon as I figure out how my international readers can participate.
I’m sure you noticed that all through the Christmas holiday, I didn’t publish anything. It was intentional. I needed the break.
Now, I feel so energized and ready to take on the world. Well, that is until the usual fatigue starts to take its toll. Hopefully with the scheduled posts, any break will not be noticed.
Once again, happy new year to you all!!! Here’s to a more fulfilling and blessed 2018.
Thank you for sticking with me on this journey. Please continue!
All my love,
